Vol. 2277: The "July Is Coming" Edition

Post by Dark Sol on Mon Jun 26, 2017 9:56 am

It's July already at the end of the week. How about that!? I'm happy because my birthday week is going to be fun. the 20th is when the big release of SDCC funko pop stuff comes out, then the next day we leave for St. Louis for a little quick road trip. We're essentially going to visit this restaurant: https://www.twistedranch.com then we might hit the zoo and what ever else comes along that we can fit in.

Then it's the national shortly after that! I'm planning on only going on day, that Sunday. I want to drop off my stuff with COMC so I don't have to mail it, and see if I can grab some cheap stuff.

So Monday was the day from hell... I forgot that I was out of milk in the office fridge, so I had to skip breakfast. My 11:30am meeting ran until 5:00pm (when I had to leave) so I skipped lunch. Then I rushed home, but construction slowed my bus down. So by the time I took the dog for a walk, and fed him I had to run to my 6:30 Paws Level 2 training. That class ran long, so by the time I got home, took the dog on another walk it was 9:00 and I hadn't eaten all day. So I had a bowl of cereal and went to bed.

Damn Gina. That is indeed an absolutely awful day. I would agree. I keep some random food at my desk so I would have eaten something lol Almonds at least.

How's ol' fluffy doing?

I did have some snacks. Almonds and pretzels. But no meals.

Fluffy is doing great, but he sheds a lot (not surprised) and I'm starting to fear that I may have developed an allergy to dogs in last the few years because despite cleaning thoroughly multiple times already I can't seem to stop sneezing and having an itchy nose/eyes when I'm at home with the dog.

Oh that would suck if you had to deal with allergies all the time. Wonder if it's just his long fur or dander or something.

Well luckily he decided to cough Thursday night/friday morning again (and a little bit saturday) so he failed his medical checkup for kennel cough and is not yet eligible for adoption, and is still just a medical foster. He has another checkup on July 7th, so if allergies persist I'll be done fostering and can relinquish him back to Paws without paying an adoption fee. I'd just be out the amazon gift card money I spent on a dog bed and toys.

It'd suck b/c I've wanted a dog for a long long time, and he's a great dog. But at least I'd know I kept him out of the medical center. And I'll be a level 2 volunteer by the time he's ready for adoption so I can help him meet the right home.

It might not be all dogs, too. might just happen to be him you're having a reaction to, too.

You gonna go to the national this year? I'm just going the one day, I think (Sunday). We'll see.

Yeah, I've been fine around pretty much all my friend's dogs. Mostly labs and shorter hair breeds. I grew up with an Aussie though and was fine, but much like how I never had seasonal allergies as a kid evidently dog allergies can change over time too.

I want to, but it's not a high priority. I don't have a ton of card money right now (though more if I don't pay a dog adoption fee), but I'd like to see whats around.

Yeah that's where I'm at. Wont have a ton to spend after the funko stuff I'll be getting and our quick vaca but I'd like to go, drop off my COMC stuff, and check some things out.

Yeah, I'd like to drop off for COMC as well. I think I might literally drop off the rest of my cards that aren't PC for COMC because I just don't spend the effort to scan/list/sell anything. I could probably limit myself to like 40 cards + my PC in my apartment and let COMC handle the rest.

I think it'd be fun to see what other merch I can find. Maybe grab a few cool starting lineups if that huge bin is around again. Maybe some cheap old boxes (93-94 Stadium Club was a blast last time). Maybe a pennant or jersey or artwork or something, but probably not much for cards.

The only bad part is I'm probably going to have to buy store credit because I only have $54 in my COMC lol I've been meaning to send stuff in for a whiiiilllleee now so my balance dwindled down.

probably not. It seems everything gets uploaded like 30-40 at a time, so if you can make a few sales as you go you should be alright. I think on my last shipment I had about $100 in store credit and I don't think I ever dipped below $75-80.

That's true. I forgot about their small batches approach lol I just have to not buy anything to keep it where it is.
